K&N Filter Followup

Well yesterday I went and picked up my K&N filter for my 405. When I
took out the old paper filter, I was shocked and disturbed to find
what looked like a good quarter cup of sand in the intake tract.
Until I realized that that was _before_ the air filter, and that the
intake from that point on was squeeky clean (unlike, apparently, some
505 V6s out there, and no, that was not meant to be a derogatory jibe
to get the 405/505 war going again!). Regardless, I do plan on
vacuuming out that sand, as it was probably not meant to be there in
the first place (unless Peugeot's engineers know something I don't -
and you never know...). After installing the filter (which must be
about 40% of the thickness of the original paper filter), I tried to
find some open road to test it out, but of course NYC is not well
known for those sorts of things. Initial impressions, however, are
this: slightly more induction noise across the rev range, marginally
smoother idle, and smoother power delivery at WOT. I am going down to
Atlantic City tomorrow and we shall see how the rest of it stacks up.

PS - Dave Herlihy, I wasn't able to ask about a 504 filter (huge lines
at PepBoys), but plan on doing so next time I am there.
