Alan,
As you said, I do have my own parts supply for these reasons. Usually what
happens then is, the mechanic gets upset because he can not make a small
fortune on my parts. The place they really don't want to spend their
"unbillible time" is figuring out which end is up when the car is not their
usual Ford Taurus.

I am supposed to drive an inadequate vehicle to make their life easier!

John

PS. I agree with your "black Forest" statement.

I also own a 72 Dodge Challenger,

1987 Chrysler Conquest TSI (Mitsubishi Starion ESi-R) With the modifications
I have made to this car. It is functional equivalent of the 911 but allot
less money.

My challenger will never do anything other than get down a 1/4 mile fast.
It does not stop. It does not turn.

My Conquest Stops, turns and accelerates, like the 911, but also like the
911 I feel every pebble in the road and I can only put one other person in
it.

Alot of that boils down to the mechanic not wanting to spend "unbillable"
time on the phone tracking down parts for you. Since all persons on this
list have access to part suppliers this should free them up from looking for
us.
I had a local-yokel auto parts guy tell me that I should sell the car, but
then again he had never driven a European car, much less a Peugeot.
It's a totally different mentality. You have your GTO "Judge" and Hemi-Cuda
crowd, and then you have your Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera crowd.
It all boils down to what the road is like once you leave your driveway.
I dare Detroit Iron "Joe" to drive 150MPH+ in the Black Forrest of Germany
in his 1979 Firebird Trans-Am. But if your doing the Cannonball Run, well
then.....
