405 Sunroof

I've noticed a few mails about sunroofs, which reminded of my problem.
One Winters morning I opened the roof, only to hear a grinding noise
followed by the roof starting to opening - I guess something was
frozen!. The roof managed to close again, but I was left with a
problem:

When I close the roof it stops before it has actually closed. If I then
push the button again it goes past the correct closed position, but does
not continue to tilt as far as it should. I guess the grinding noise was
the 'I'm closed, so stop point' moving to a new location. I've looked in
the Haynes manual, but can't see what tells the sunroof when it has
actually closed. I've also heard that sunroofs are not for the
faint-hearted, so if you understand my problem and can make some
suggestions...
