Nathan. I would could never begin to diagnose your problem. The first
thing you need to do is get the car back to it's original form. The
black box that was rigged was most likely the tach relay.

I cannot imagine what you mean about the fuel return being cut off.

First check would be for the obvious hoses/wires problems. Make sure
nothing has come loose. Condition of the plugs, etc? Vacuum
readings. If I had to guess, I would say you have a fuel delivery
problem.
