The owner dropped off an 86 505S 5 spd sedan today for $500. It has a
rebuilt engine ( the one that had a broken piston skirt) 10K ago. Over
$400 in parts from Brian was used in the rebuild. Owner did the job
himself, he's moving back to England tomorrow and did not want to take
two cars back with him (he took the SW8). It was a good rebuild, the
emission report after rebuild shows 3.3 ppm HC (limit 150) and 0.00% CO
(limit 1.00).
Anyway, one of the rear pwr windows was not working (turned out to be a
bad motor-open circuited). I was using the cigarette lighter as a ground
for my DVM to buzz out the window switches and to my surprise the cig
lighter ground was positive when it should be negative. I remember a
prior post from a list member burning out some accessories in a cig
lighter wired reversed. Apparently that was not a unique case. I have
not pulled the lighter to fix it yet but will do so later. So, before
you plug any electronic equipment into your lighter, check the polarity
first.
