85 Turbo Fuel Pump Questions

The main fuel pump in an 85 turbo that I fix has started whining
not the cavitating sound that comes from a failed primer pump
but a constant loud whine.
I assume this is the begining of the end?
Has anybody ever used a pump from an XN6 as a replacement?
The listings show different pumps, the turbo and the V6 are the same
but the XN6 is a different part number.
