I have a 1991 SW8 turbo with the 4HP22 automatic. The manual says it will
up-shift at 51 mph. Actually, I think mine shifts a little before that.
It is a pain to drive around town, so I lock it in 3d with the shift lever.
My thinking is that this actually is better for the transmission than all
of the up- and down-shifting. How do others manage this?
