Just a FWIW on the 4 speeds. Around town it would help the longevity
of the transmission to put it into 3d gear so it will shift less. I
suspect a lot of the troubles that ZF and all others had with shortened
life on 4 speed autos was due to increased shifting, mostly from 3d and
4th gear. When they hunt back and forth it cannot help but cause more
heat and therefore shorten the life.
