Re: 505 sun roof problems and list issue

I'm posting this to the list because the info may be useful to others who
need to take the headliner off the sunroof.
Thanks to Doug Sisson's advise, I went home lunch time just now and made a
special tool out of a cafeteria style butter knife to pop the 4 plastic
snap in clips that secure the headliner to the sr. I punched two 5/16 "
dia. hole at the tip of the knife to make a slot that is 5/16 wide and 1/2
inch long. Stick the knife between the plastic clip and the sunroof and
pry off. I did not damage the fiberboard headliner this way. There are no
other hardware securing the headliner. Close the sr 90% and pull headliner
towards the front and the whole thing should slide out.

I was able to close the sr all the way once the headliner was removed.
Glad I was able to do that because we are expecting rain.

On another note:
I've been noticing lately that many list members are sending private
replies to questions. If you do this, your wisdom will not benefit others
and the archive will have a lot of questions but few answers. If you
think your answer may be useful to everone, please reply to the list.
Any comments?

If you remove the bottom cover of the sr you can see where the plastic
cord attaches to a metal bracket that attaches to the sr itself. If you
un-bolt the metal bracket from the sr you should be able to manually
close sr using the metal arms on both sides.

Be very careful taking the headliner off the bottom of the sr. It uses
the plastic clips that you have to pry out. I wasn't careful and pulled
the clips right out of the particle board material. Do the front part
with sr partially open then do the rest.
