I think the 84 and 85 gas wagons are essentially the same. They both
have the XN6 engines. Pre 82? XN6's have an air pump. 84 and 85's have
the pulsair system, 86 did away with the pulsair and thus have a
different cyl head.
If the 85 wagon with 5 spd is in good condition, I would highly recommend
buying it. It's simply a great wagon, quiet, comfortable, economical,
reliable, good performance for normal driving. Apart from the normal
maintenance make sure the previous owner greased the U-joint otherwise
you may be looking at an $800 job at some point.
