Cam wear in n9t engines is fairly common where the oil has not been kept
clean; to the point where I don't have any good used cams now, but quite a
handful of worn ones. They are readily reground however. I don't believe
that cam wear is a problem with properly maintained engines.

You need to lock the chain in place when you remove the head. If the chain
drops, you are in for a lot of work.
