N9T engine design

The info I have from Peugeot HQ is that N9Txx engines are based on a Chrysler engine, onto which Peugeot added the turbo and injection system.

I even met a Peugeot Technician who said he used to engage N9TE(A?)s in "uphill" races (in a car I don't remember, but not a 505 body).

What I'm not sure of is wether Chrysler designed it with racing in mind.
