Hypothesis on engine knocking:
It knocks usually right after I upshift when at full throttle. I sometimes get
a 2 and a 3 after 5+ seconds at WOT in 5th. Tonight the car didn't start until
I wriggled the connection on the distributer. I think it was where the ECU
controls the timing advance.
Sometimes the car won't knock at all. It doesn't seem to be related to the
weather or engine temperature (won't knock even when the fan is clutched).
I'm guessing there's an advance curve on the N9TEA like there is on all the
old american cars I've owned. Could a bad connection cause the timing to be
more advanced or to stay too advanced when the engine RPMs drop?
