505 Turbo died on the highway tonight

I was on my way back to Greenville and around 8:30, in the middle of nowhere,
I downshifted to 3rd, at around 65, trying to find what conditions made my car
knock sometimes and not others -- without explanation. For example, I could
put it at partial (50%+) throttle in 5th and it would knock three times where
I could hear it. But at full throttle it wouldn't knock. So I was working on
finding under what conditions exactly that the engine knocked. Anyways, after
downshifting my yellow LED lit up and the engine started decelerating. My
first thought was that the weird 3000 RPM limit kicked in. But when my engine
continued to decelerate I threw that hypothesis out. I then thought, "S, I did
something destructive to my engine." But when I tried to start it the
compression sounded very even. I floored the accelerator and turned the key
(It helps start it faster after it's been running recently for some reason).
The rhythm increased speed. I figured that it wasn't dumping as much fuel when
I did that. I checked all the necessary fuses and popped the hood. I then
wriggled the wire from the output of the ign. coil and the connection to the
distributer. It started right up and I went on my merry way. In the 15+
minutes I was on the side of the highway, no one bothered to stop.
