The leak is from the drains clogging up. On my 1989's roof, there was some
rust flaking off on the bottom of the metal of the window's front edge. This
was regularly falling off and then heading to the drains and then clogging
them. The fix was to wire brush and then use rust reformer and then painted
it with rustoleum. It looks clean still after 4-5 months, and no water,
thankfully. This water leakage immediately fouled my roof motor's bearings,
though, and the roof makes excessive noise, but still works fine. I had
trouble locating the way to blow out the lines from above, so I opened the
fender liners just to the rear of the front wheels and blew the lines
backwards to clean them. If you do this, the roof should be opened, and you
should tape some capturing plastic bags around the front corner area before
doing this, as the stuff really flies and makes a mess.

Hi
Last week, with all the rains here in NJ I experience a leak in my 92 mi16
from the area where the map light and sunroof switch is located.
I took the car to Ramsey Peugeot. He told me it could be I need a new sunroof
cable (it opens and shuts fine) and he would have to remove the sunroof, etc.
I took the car to a Peugeot mechanic in Queens, NY (he asked if my car was my
baby) and he looked at the sunroof area and blew out the drains. He told me
it
was NOT the sunroof cable. Could be a) leak from windshield getting in there,
or sunroof drain is kinked. He noticed a lot of water within the sunroof
area.
After he blew out the drain, the leak stopped -- despite heavy rains. Then
this morning I notice a few drops (not much) from that area (could be
leftover
but not sure).
Has any other mi16 owners encountered this problem? Which of these 2 Peugeot
certified mechanics should I believe?
Thanks.. Renato
