Just went through the same symptoms with mine, except they were not as
pronounced. My symptoms were a mild tremor, stumble, what have you at
highway speeds. Felt like injectors or ignition breakdown. (The car always
ran turbine smooth before) It would also not hold the green econoscope light
while on level highway at 60 mph -- which it always did before. Fuel
consumption was higher. Had to cancel first visit to Mark Motors in
Ottawa -- the one and only official Peugeot dealer in town because I was
unable to get a rental in its place -- and ended up having to drive 255
miles each way Ottawa to Toronto in that blizzard. Was worried all that
driving would hurt things, so dropped some injector cleaner in the first
tank of gas and noticed some improvement. (No trouble in Toronto with the
blizzard - even without snow tires) Back in Ottawa the car went into Mark,
while I drove an Audi 5000 loaner -- (my impression: a Leopard tank that
went through the car wash and shrank -- not without its qualities, but not
for me, thank you)
After changing the scavenge pump (with a Jetta unit, thanks to this list),
changing the O2 sensor, cleaning the vent and return lines, and noticing
that the injectors where showing a pretty poor pattern, replacing the worst
two with some used ones, the car runs a little better but is still not its
normal turbine smooth. Dealer says to go further means playing around with
EGR and possible big bucks. Suggested I run two more shots of injector
cleaner throught the fuel system. I am one the first.
All of which to say: Have you checked the injector spray pattern?
