Well on Saturday, I took my 405 into L&S and had all the bushings in the front
suspension replaced, as well as the lower motor mount. The car is very tight
now! Anyway, as the job was being done, Steve (the owner) rushed into the shop
very excited. Steve, myself, and 2 of L&S mechanics piled into a 505 and drove
over about 10 blocks away to 7th Avenue and Berkeley Place in Brooklyn (a nice
picturesque New York corner). There we saw a film crew and 2 brand new 206
GTIs!!! At first (due to mixed communication), we understood that Peugeot was
filming this commercial for the US, but after talking with the crew (and
noticing that the cars were right hand drive and had UK plates), we found out
that the commercial was being done by Peugeot UK for the British market. Too
bad - anyway, the reason that Steve/L&S was called was because one of the 206's
was running very rich, and had fouled its plugs. A passerby/Peugeot owner
suggested the crew call L&S to check it out, which they did. I bought a
disposable camera and took some nice pics of the 206s - they really look great
in person, and the materials and construction seemed to be of a very high
standard. I hope to get the pics developed within a couple of days and scanned
onto the internet.
Adam
PS - the 206's were creating quite a buzz on the streets of Brooklyn - lots of
people were stopping to check them out, ask questions, etc. They were uniformly
disappointed when they found out they were unavailable in the US.
