I'm assuming you know how to active the sunroof, but that it doesn't open
when you press the rocker button.
If you press the button and DON'T hear a faint wirring coming from the
trunk try steps 1, 2, and 3. If you DO hear the wirring but the roof isn't
moving go to step 3.
1). Check the fuse (refer to your owner's manual). The fuse box is under
the hood at the back of the driver's side fender. Just lift off the lid.
2). If that isn't it get back in the car and try tapping (with your finger)
and holding the rocker button in postion for retracking the sunroof. Note
that sometimes they work in one direction (ususally opening) but not the
other. If you can get the roof to open this way you have loose connections
at the rocker switch, proceed to 2 a).
2 a). Pop out the blanking panel on the console to the left of the sunroof
rocker switch. Then put your fingers through the hole and press up under
the rocker switch while trying to activate it again. If you can get the
roof to work properly this way, pop out the switch and check/press in the
wiring connectors on the switch.
If none of this has worked so far go to 3.
3). Open the trunk and pull the left vertical carpetted cover away from the
fender. Towards the back seat you should see a white nylon casing, which is
the reduction gear housing, (aligned in the vertical plane) with a nylon
tube exiting from its front and disappearing up the rear roof pillar.
Attached to this gear housing is the motor.
Check to see if the white nylon tube is securely fastened to the gear
housing. If it isn't, the cable will retract through the tube (opening the
sunroof) but won't be able to close the roof because the end of the tube
isn't anchored.
If all this is OK, unplug the connection to the motor and jump it directly
from your battery. If it works you have a bad connection. If it doesn't you
have a bad motor (and possibly still a bad connection, but you can check
this with a voltmeter while someone activates the sunroof rocker switch.
