xd2s vs. xd3t

I am sure this question has been answered many times in the past in this
list, but I am raising it again because i remain somewhat confused from
the differing range of opinions i have heard expressed on the question
of whether an xd3t engine feels only marginally more powerful than an
xd2s. Some say marginal, others say major, and yet others say it
depends on the shape of the particular engines in question (old, tired
3t vs new/rebuilt xd2s etc..).

The question is relevant to me because i am about halfway pulling out
the seized xd2s engine from a recently acquired 505 TD wagon. I'm going
to have to put in another engine anyway and was wondering if it might
not be preferable to go with the more powerful xd3t. I own a 505 TD
sedan which has an xd3t. Body and interior are ageing. But I can also
get an xd2s (decent mileage) for a resonable price and save myself the
trouble of having to extract the xd3t from the sedan, thereby keeping
both vehicles on the road..

One concern i have is will the use of an xd3t on a TD wagon cause
unwanted headaches ? Or will the heavier wagon in fact run better on
an xd3t?
Some of you may have very direct experiences on this issue and your
advice will be much appreciated. thank you in advance.
