No, Just pull the needles off, straight up. I made a tool from a piece of
strapping steel, the blue stuff, bent into an L then with a Dremel cut off
disc slot it the width of the cut off disc. Carefully slip it under the
needle and pull, they are pretty tight. You might want to put some tape on
the working end of the tool to prevent scratching the black face.
Make a diagram showing the rest position of the needles, and don`t
interchange the speedo and tach, they are different.
Once off, the individual instrument can be removed from the back, the black
face does not have to be disturbed.
The odometer can be disassembled and the numbered drums lightly greased, I
bet they are rusted onto the shaft.
