I had the hardest time figuring that out, too. Dealers sell a tool for
this, but I was determined to figure out a cheaper route that didn't
involve a long drive. In my toolbox, I found an L-shaped tool bought at
Sears a long time ago, where it had what amounted to a pyramid-cut at one
end. The idea was that you cut off the tip to have exactly the square
drive you want. You might try at Sears, but I question whether it is
still there.

Not that this will help you, but you might want to think about swapping it
out with a hex-replacement (aka standard bolt) from any parts store. I
do my own oil changes about 80% of the time, but the one time I took it to
a place, they didn't have the fitting. So, what did the guy do--he tried
to get it out anyway and destroyed the square edges. By the time I got it
out, I hade almost destroyed the thing. With the hex, it's a cinch every
time.
