I had this exact problem with my 405 after I put RainX on the windshield.
What a mistake! The wipers were fine before and now they chatter across
violently. The rainx is great at speeds fast enough to blow the water
off, but at around-town speed I can't stand using the wipers now. To
experiment, I sprinkled a tiny bit of oil on the windshield and the wipers
performed perfectly. I've tried different brands of wipers, cleaning the
windshield with glass cleaner, etc., but I can't get the wipers to wipe as
smoothly as before I put RainX on. I've had good luck with it on other
cars and I really can't figure out why it has caused such a problem on my
405.
