RE: Wiper chatter

If the wiper chatter or groan only occurs in one direction, I think it is
because the blade is not flipping to drag across the glass, but is trying
to push. Rain-X may worsen this condition by making the glass slicker, but
the real problem is probably that the wiper arm has twisted in the
direction of the chatter, and must be twisted back, so that the blade flops
and drags with each change in direction.

I twist the wiper arm with a small adjustable wrench applied near the outer
end.

This problem is particularly common on cars which have had heavy snow
standing on their windshields for a long time, but it happens on many other
cars too.
