It was an evolution of the PRV V6 (PRV= Peugeot Renault Volvo) that was designed
in the late 70s by that trio of manufacturers. Francois Dion has (or had? Is
it still there Francois?) a great page describing the evolution of this engine.
The one used in the Premier was a later iteration developed by Renault for that
car. Not sure if it is the same as the Premier's sister car, the Renault 25, or
modified extensively for the U.S. market.

The Eagle Premier was actually a Renault. Was the V6 engine made by
Renault or did it come from Peugeot?
