505 Sedan----Rear Hub Nut.

I'm trying to remove the rear hub nut, after a failed attempt with an
impact wrench I turned to a 3/4" pull handle.
I had to use a reducer because my 36mm socket was 1/2" drive. I just
sheered the reducer in two while using a pipe over the pull handle. Are
they supposed to be that tight? They do come off counterclockwise don't
they?
