According to _Car_ magazine a couple months back, Rover did this
w/their Freelander, a small AWD SUV not sold in the States. Seems
Freelander transmission layshafts were breaking, leaving the vehicle in
FWD only. What cracked me up was many owners never noticed--they were
poseurs, never putting tire off pavement!
