Just went over to the parts store (3 blocks from my place, fortunately)
and was pleasantly surprised that they had the appropriate Bosch coil
in stock. I bet it isn't specific to the 504! So I'm just back from an
errand (~5 mi round trip), and the car ran beautifully every inch of
the way!
Anyone who's meant to respond to my original post but not gotten around
to it, feel free to speak up now, in case the new coil doesn't do the
trick after all! But so far, it seems that it is. Many thanks! :)
