[Peugeot] Recommended Tires

As to tires for Peugeots, I have an '86 505GL, which originally had the
steel wheels and hubcaps, which I've replaced with the STI wheels, which
normally had 205/60/15 tires on them.
I switched to 195/65/15 tires, because BF Goodrich makes their Touring
T/A in that size, at an unbelievably low price, very much dissimilar to
the pricing on the sizes immediately on either side of that size. These
can each be generally had for about $42-45 US dollars. In fact, with
good negotiating, you can get a set put on, balanced, with new valve
stems for about $220-240, usually. And from my experience, these tires
are very, very nice. Quiet, responsive. Maybe not as good as the more
expensive tires that have been mentioned on the list, but at half the
price, this is THE VALUE tire set many, many Peugeot owners should be
seeking out. They're slightly 'taller' and a bit less wide than the
205/60/15s, but the difference is not detrimental (in my opinion), and
in fact can add a very slightly more luxuriant ride, not quite as harsh
as 205/60/15s can sometimes be. And they don't squeal at all either when
negotiating on and off ramps at high speeds! And they seem to last at
least 40,000 miles. Get these tires, everyone, if you know what's good
for you!
Regards,
Brian O.
