You might also try some manual troubleshooting of the AFM itself. It has
four connection

The (pin) numbers are those on the ECU. You might want to confirm end to
end continuity and pin numbers in the harness by pulling the ECU plug off
too.
This info is a little sketchy, as are the books I have!
Rf is the flow meter itself. Rt is the thermo sensor
Rf should read 300-500 ohms end-to-end and should not vary.
and be 10-200 ohms at rest
Rt should read 2000-3000 ohms at 68F and 250-400 ohms at 176F
There should be infinite ohms between any of the 4 wires and ground
