I have a 92 405DL with 55,000 miles. For many years, when the tempeture
gets below 10-20 degrees F my 405 has experenced the followning
problem. The car starts OK. After driving about 10 miles the engine may
stall when stoping in traffic. This involves the rpm not coming down
smoothly to idle, sometimes the rpm will also surge upward. After this
starts to happen the engine begins to miss. It always restarts after a
stall with no problem. I have checked for false air between the air
flow sensor and manifold. Also I have tied moving the air intake from
it's place over the radiator, pushing it down so it drew pre warmed air
from behind the radiator. This seem to help but, the problem seems to
be getting worse. The car runs fine when the outside ait temp is above
15 to 20 Degrees F. Has anyone had any experience with this problem.
Thanks
