I'm not familiar with the ZDJL engine, but a lot of cars have their water pump
driven off the timing belt. When a water pump goes, it usually starts leaking
as a sign that it needs to be replaced. If it is the water pump, you should
replace the timing belt as well while you are at it.

Subject: big COOLANT leak(ZDJL), help please!!!

What started as a slow trickle has turned into a gusher. Today I lost
about half a gallon of coolant with very little driving and the car almost
overheated.
The leak looks as if it is coming from somewhere behind the timing belt
cover. It is definately coming from the front (closest to radiator) of the
engine. It doesn't seem to be coming from any obvious hoses.
I have to work on it tomorrow (thurs.) What may be hiding behind the
timing belt cover that is involved with the cooling system? What else do I
have to remove to take off the belt cover (assume I don't know what all the
parts may be called)? Please help.

TIA,
