Subject: Re: Replacing Water Pump
Doug,
Be very careful in putting the pulley hub back in place. I replaced my
waterpump about 4 or 5 years ago, and didn't know about the trick that
someone posted here a couple of years later: Use a dab of grease or
something to hold the Woodruff key in place. Mine caught and turned as I
put the hub in place, and dug into the windings for the electromagnetic fan
clutch, so I had to tighten down the adjuster screws to get the fan to
turn. Still looking for a hub.
I think the weephole is there as an indicator to let us know that the
internal seals of the waterpump are shot, and the waterpump needs
replacing. Otherwise, I guess it would eventually just sieze up.
