Paris, July 2 (Bloomberg) -- Automobiles Citroen, the smaller of PSA Peugeot Citroen's two car units, expects new-car sales in France to rise 9.8 percent to 2.13 million vehicles this year, Citroen Managing Director Claude Satinet told Paris-based business daily La Tribune in an interview. ``We underestimated such factors as the average age of cars already in circulation, as well as the impact of falling prices,'' Satinet said, adding that new orders rose 10 percent overall in June. The executive also predicted Citroen would sell more than 1 million vehicles this year, up from 965,400 last year, while setting a target of 1.4 million for either 2003 or 2004, the paper reported.

French new car sales rose an adjusted 9.2 percent in the first half of 1999, France's carmaker association said yesterday.
