Dear Sirs,

I am surprised that some of you feel the 505 is not up to scratch in
safety terms.
While in Germany a number of years ago, Auto Motor und Sport revealed
that the 505 was better than any car in terms of mortality rates in
Europe. The story got little coverage as Merc and BMW were beaten at
their own game - providing safe transportation for the upper class.

Recently in Australia it has also been reported that the 505 is second
only to a 740/760 series Ovlov. Incredible result for a car designed in
the mid 70's!!

Did the US market get the structural rejects of the litter??

Speaking of crashworthiness, I note that my 86 505TD is far and away
the most expensive car to insure. And I mean liability only!! We have
much newer and more expensive cars, as well as my old 74 chevy truck
but nothing compares with Peugeot for raising one's liability rates.
I've had different companies and it never changes. I even told them
"hey it's a diesel - it won't burst into flame when it's hit, and it's
slow" etc.

but no effect on these companies. Were they really an accident-prone
car??
