While I haven't had any experience with accidents so far, knock on wood,
my mother has. She had two accidents in her old '83 505sti. One day she
was pulling out of a parking space with a big van parked to her left.
Since she couldn't see around it, she pulled out slowly. BANG. A woman
crashed into the front drivers side of the 505. The 505 skidded into the
empty space to the right.
Well, the police estimate the other woman's speed at about 45 in a parking
lot!! Her car was totaled but the 505 was barely effected and she drove it
home. It needed an alignment and body work. To pull the body panel out I
hooked on a winch to the bent metal reinforcement under the body work. I
then attached the other side to a tree. There was still some dents but it
wasn't that bad at all. You can barely notice it in the lower-left picture
on my web page: http://dougsisson.webprovider.com/peugeot.html
The other time she was rear-ended by a teenager who had just gotten their
license. The other car needed a whole new bumper, not a scratch on the 505.
She felt so bad for the teenager driving the parents car that she didn't
report it.
