french headlights?

The retired '83 505sti we have has the round french-headlights. These
have a seperate bulb for highs and lows. Has anyone ever tried
retro-fitting them to a 505 with the standard single bulb and lighted
plastic surround? Obviously I'd have to change the wiring, but would I
have to change the grill too? The '83 has a slightly different grill but I
can't tell if the grill makes any difference.
I liked being able to aim the highs really high as to be more effective
when traveling down some of the pitch black roads in the area (plus its
more effective when flashing them at a**hole drivers, pardon my french). I
think I'd like them better on the metallic grey then I do on the maroon '83.
I've installed a jpeg file that displays what the '87 505 would probably
look like with the french head lights. Let me know what you think. Click to:
