That's the purpose of crumple zone. Although the front and rear of the car
take lots of damage, it absorbs the force so that the passenger compartment
doesn't get jossled quite as hard. I'm sure my 69 Lincoln would take a 15 mph
impact much better than my 89 505 Turbo, but if I don't think it's nearly as
safe. If nothing else, the 505 handles and stops so much better.
