As an aside, those killed in their Peugeot's won't be contributing their
observations about the car's safety to us. BTW, I spoke to my insurance
agent today to get their comparative insurability ratings fo my three cars
(the higher the number, the better the insurance industry's experience with
fatalities, injury claims, property claims, cost of repair and other factors.
On the basis of this composite ratings, the cost of insurance is determined.
My three cars are as follows:
89 Peugeot 505 SW Turbo 20
92 Acura Legend V6 32
99 Audi A6Quattro
38
The annual cost of my 99 Audi, believe it or not, is $80 a year more than my
89 Peugeot. Also, he made it clear that despite the condition of my 89, they
will only pay for damage claims up to the book value-no more. Yet, as I
mentioned to him, the cost of my 89 has only come down 25% since I bought it
in 93, Yet its value has declined by 75%. He said it was part greed and part
rationale. I did not have time to hear the rational part.
