US bound cars were build in Sochaux as we received them but specifically
to suit American taste and expectations.
I've driven 405 in Europe, UK, Morocco, UAE and Singapore and no 2 were
equipped similarly, yet all were factory.
The US spec tends to be upscale as they tried to compete with BMW 320 etc.
So in our Mi16, leather was std whereas in UK, it was an option etc.
