When I went shopping for my first car in '71, the three finalists were
the 404, the Volvo 122, and the Saab 96. In a nutshell, I wanted
reliability, crashworthiness, good gas mileage, and handling. I went
w/the 96 because it was FWD and drove three of them over the next 19
years.
By 1990 I wanted more refinement in a car. My mechanic recommended the
504. I respected his opinion and wanted to be able to keep doing
business with him, and here I am!
