So, my questions are:
(1) besides immediately thinking that it needs to be rebuilt, could
something else cause it to slip? (ie: typical linkage problems, typical
clogged filters, kickdown cable adjustment, transmission coolant
circulation, etc for this type of transmission). Any "typical"
transmission problems/remedies that could cause this problem and related
to this model are appreciated.
(2) what would a typical rebuild for this transmission be? $1000?
$2000? More?
(3) should it just go to salvage?
I recently looked at another 405S, but a '91, that had it's transmission
rebuilt 2 years ago for about $1000. But, the car was in terrible
physical shape and the dude wanted $3900 (yea right) for it.
