Actually, driving conditions in Corfu (very high humidity and temperatures,
especially during summer, combined with the dusty environment) force
engineers to advise such frequencies in oil changes (the maximum oil change
interval is 5,000 kms). To be frank, I wanted the car to have an optimum
run-in, so I had it inspected and changed the oil at 1,000, 5,000 and 9,000
kms (during the 1st scheduled maintenance). Yes, I did use the same Shell
Semi-Synth oil.
I'm currently trying to trace the problem, with the Peugeot authorised
service point in Corfu, avoiding of course to disassemble the car's engine at
this stage. The car's manual actually states that the "maximum oil
consumption is 0.5 lt/1,000 km)". But I wonder how this can happen... The
car's electronic diagnostics show nothing, so does the analysis of the
exhaust gases also...
