Actually, I was not told by the mechanics here to have the compression ratio
checked. I'll do that and come back with more news... Average humidity is 90-92%
and average temperature has been around 38 deg. Celsius this summer. The problem
first appeared a couple of months ago, when I drove the car for about 1,200 kms in
one day (non-stop). Despite being extremely cautious with the rev counter (trying
not to exceed 5,000 rpm), as the car had covered some 5,000 kms only, I observed an
oil loss of about 0.7 lts! Peugeot recommends using Total 7000 semi-synth oil, but
that does not seem to be available in Corfu. I'm also thinking to send a sample of
used oil to Athens, to have it analysed. Could it be perhaps that the oil is
thickening with use (and thus loosing some of its volume)?
