Renault Isn't Interested in Nissan Diesel, La Tribune Says

Paris, Sept. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Renault SA, France's No. 2 carmaker,
isn't interested in a controlling stake in Nissan Diesel Motor Co., the
debt-burdened truck arm of Renault's 37- percent owned Nissan Motor
Co., La Tribune reported, without citing sources. Patrick Faure, the
chief executive of Renault Vehicules Industriels, the truck arm of the
French carmaker, is expected to tell managers on Sept. 8 of the
decision, barring last-minute talks between Renault Chief Executive
Louis Schweitzer and Yoshikazu Hanawa, the chief executive at Nissan,
which are unlikely. Renault will retain the 22.5 percent stake it
already owns in Nissan Diesel, the report said.

Renault has been reviewing the debt of Japan's No. 4 truckmaker; parent
company debt alone totals 267 billion yen ($2.4 billion), 85 percent of
the company's 313 billion yen in assets.
