After a few weeks of other small jobs, like photocopying the engine manuals
at the local library, I have finally removed the head, turbo, and exhaust
manifold from my car. I have a turbo rebuild kit from Turbo City, but I'm
having a hard time taking the turbo apart. The bolts that hold the exhaust
side on are inaccessible to a box wrench. There's not enough clearance
between the bolt heads and the bearing's water jacket. How do they put
these things together? It's terrible! Anyway, what have others done to get
these things apart? I don't want to use an open-end wrench on them for fear
of rounding them off. Thanks.
