All of my cars have extractor hooks which I purchased at a local lock supply.
These little hooks will slide past the fallen finger which can then
be pulled up into place.
This finger releases the lock into the steering when it is pulled up to the top
of its travel.
If it doesn't come all the way up with the key when it is pulled out
then not only
won't the key go back in all the way because the finger gets pushed
down the slot in
front of the key but the steering won't lock.
Any tiny hook will do this
Slide down the lock side closest your knees
