In my opinion, the best theft deterrent is a low profile. The plastic door
that slides in front of the radio is great. Don't play your system at loud
volumes with your windows down in the area that you live. Don't leave CDs
or tapes sitting in plain view. Don't put the stickers on your window that
came with your expensive CD Player. It seems that the more money some
people spend on their system, the more they want everyone to know what they
have, duh. If you have a DL that didn't come with rear speakers (like
mine), don't cut holes in the rear dash to mount them. Mount them from
under the dash. That combined with the door over the radio can give the
illusion that I don't have a stereo at all. Never use the grills that come
with after market speakers if you don't have to. Use the factory Peug
covers if possible. And finally, even if you don't have an alarm, get
alarm stickers for your windows and possibly a flashing LED for the
dash. These tips may reduce your chance of getting broken into but there
will never be a sure thing.
