Looking at the BOBI concept more objectively......
The idea of sealing the inside of the lens and the reflector from the weather
is a pretty good idea. No matter how good of rubber seal you put around an H4
or 9000x, humidity enters and over time, things fog up.
On the down side, if the internal "balloon" is too small, it confines the
heat in the small area around the (hot) halogen bulb.
This concept was not only in Cibie headlamps. The first US made "sealed" beam
halogens used the same concept.
One thing sometimes overlooked as an advantage of capsule bulbs such as H4,
900x etc is that you can break a main lens on a headlamp and not loose
illumination. I have seen 10,000's of cars (literally) like that in Africa
and the Middle East with cracked yet shining headlamps.
Given that, I would never drive a car with an old-fashioned plain sealed beam.
BTW: would you guys please edit out the list and yahoo footer fluff on your
replies so that threads don't have more footer than content!!
