1985 Turbo, V. Fast on less than 1/4 tank

I've got an interesting phenomenon to share. Every time my 1985 505
Turbo gets down to less than 1/4 tank of gas it becomes incredibly fast. I
never really noticed until lately while I've been trying to make a
connection between why the car runs "just normal" some days and really fast
other times. I've traced it down to this. I guess the only thing that it
could be is that its running lean but if thats the case then the car is
running rich all other times. Right?? Whatever...... Anyways, if anyone
understands or has the same "problem" this please let me know. Thanks.
