One of the problems I noted in taking a look at the fuel pump today was
a very rusty terminal . I thought I would jiggle it a little and before
I realized it, the nut it broke off. As I was trying to get the
fiilter/accumulator/pump assembly out, the very rusty fuel line
cracked. the recent posts about clamping fuel hoses came in very
useful. I clamped the return hose under the tank, and the supply hose
where it came off the pump.

so now i will probably need a pump and some fuel line, and then possibly
the tachymetric relay. Hopefully this solves the problem.
Do I have to get OE fuel line or can I buy it straight and bend it as
    needed?

any suggestions on what to use to rid the garage of the stench of gasoine?

    thanks
